In March 1994, Adelaide experienced a devastating act of domestic terrorism when the National Crime Authority (NCA) building was bombed. A powerful explosion destroyed the building and killed Detective Sergeant Geoffrey Bowen, an NCA officer. Several other people were injured in the blast. The investigation into the bombing revealed that it was a targeted attack against law enforcement. The case remained unsolved for many years, but in 2012, a man named Domenic Perre was arrested and charged in connection with the bombing. He was convicted in 2013, marking a significant development in the case.
