Discover Leuven on a guided walking tour through one of Belgium’s most vibrant historic cities. With a knowledgeable local guide, you explore a city where centuries of history meet lively student culture.
During this walking tour, you visit key landmarks and lesser-known corners of Leuven’s historic center. Your guide shares clear stories about the city’s past, its university tradition, architecture, and daily life, giving context to what you see along the way.
The tour lasts about 1.5 hours and is ideal for travelers who want a well-rounded introduction to Leuven in a limited amount of time. It is suitable for solo travelers, couples, and groups.
This tour is a great choice if you want to understand Leuven rather than just walk through it.
You meet your guide near Station Leuven, next to the Vredesmonument.
The tour will end in the city centre of Leuven, around the old market square.
This is where you meet your guide and start your tour into the city centre.
See the Great Market Square of Leuven, the city's busiest square. A tour of the city cannot skip this highlight.
See the famous Saint Peter's Church of Leuven, the most noteworthy building on the square. The first church on this site dates from just before the year 1000. The church you see now was built in the 15th century and reaches 93 meters high.
Of course, you will not skip the old town hall. This is a typical gothic building, straight from the 15th century too. The building does not function as town hall anymore nowadays, but it is still used for ceremonial purposes.
You will get a glimpse of the university of Leuven, the institute that keeps Leuven young and dynamic. This is even the largest university of the Benelux!
Don't forget the Old Market Square. This square might be even more picturesque than the other one. For Belgians, it is mostly known for the yearly Leuven fun fair organised here. Now you can have a drink here and admire the facades surrounding this square.
And we will see the Tafelrond (around the table). This former Belgian central bank building also dates from the 15th century and has become an icon of the city. It has its name thanks to the meetings organised here.
