The sight of the lanterns called Kanto, some reaching up to 12 meters in length and weighing 50 kilograms, lining the main street in a row, is truly a fantastical world. Skilled performers skillfully support the Kanto on their foreheads, shoulders, and waists, creating a breathtaking spectacle as the lanterns sway in the night sky, resembling stalks of rice. It is counted among the three major festivals of Tohoku.
