This workshop is addressed to adults to learn and expend their knowledge of Polish history and culture. The course is also a perfect opportunity to gain more understanding of your Polish heritage or prepare you for a visit in Poland.
I will take you on a tour what my country looks like today. Starting with a short language lesson, I will then cover Polish geography, climate and interesting facts. We will spend some time talking about Polish history, World War II, Solidarity movement and changes that took place in Poland in 1989 and helped the country transition to democracy. Moving on, we will learn about Polish wedding traditions, by watching a video of my brother’s wedding. There are 16 Holidays in Poland, and I will talk about one of the favorites, the All Saints Day.
At the end, we will try the famous homemade pierogi and share the recipe how to make them.

Meeting point

The workshop will take place in the living room and kitchen of my home. We are located on the southern side of Appleton in a quiet and safe neighborhood.

What to expect

As a native of Poland, I will take you on a tour of what my country looks like today and share stories about the history, events, and people that have shaped it over the past 100 years.
We will begin with a short language lesson, during which I will teach you a few basic Polish greetings and show you how to introduce yourself in my native tongue. Next, I will cover Poland’s geography, climate, and some interesting facts about the country.
I will then spend some time discussing Polish history, including World War II, the Solidarity movement, and the major changes that took place in 1989, which helped Poland flourish and transition to a democratic system.
Moving on, we will explore Polish traditions, and I will show you a video from my brother’s wedding in Kielce, Poland. There are 16 national holidays in Poland, and I will talk about my favorite one—All Saints’ Day.
At the end, I will invite you to try my mom’s famous pierogi and share her recipe with you.
