When you are tired with modern buildings and busy city areas in Tokyo, how about going to relax in the nostalgic common people's town?

We will take you to the city of 50 or 100 years ago.
In this town many old houses, stores and temples remain, because this area escaped from earthquakes, fires, and air raids. Also you can find nostalgic Japanese common people's daily life which cannot be found in tourist spots.

This tour is led by National Licensed Guide Interpreter.

Yanaka Cemetery (Yanaka Reien) is a large cemetery located north of Ueno in Yanaka, Tokyo, Japan. The Yanaka sector of Taito is one of the few Tokyo neighborhoods in which the old Shitamachi atmosphere can still be felt. The cemetery is famous for its beautiful cherry blossoms that in April completely cover its paths, and for that reason that its central street is often called Cherry-blossom Avenue.

Yanaka Ginza is an example of one shotengai that is thriving against the odds. Its retro charm lies in small independent shops, from sellers of meat, fish, vegetables, and other daily staples, to purveyors of ready-to-eat foods, tea, or traditional Japanese wagashi sweets—all prepared the good old-fashioned way, in small handmade batches.

Nezu Shrine in Tokyo's Bunkyo ward near Ueno Park is one of Japan's oldest shrines, and certainly one of its most attractive. Nezu Shrine is set in lush greenery, with ponds of carp, pathways that are tunnels of small shrine arches, and elegant, beautifully colored, wooden structures that reflect Japanese culture in all its age and beauty.
