Sawara (佐原) is a historic district in Katori, often called "Little Edo" (Koedo) because it preserves the atmosphere of Japan's Edo period (1603–1868). The town developed as an important river-port and merchant center, and many traditional buildings remain today. You can enjoy the authentic beauty of traditional Japanese streetscapes here, and because it's located close to Narita Airport, it's also a perfect place to spend some time before your flight.
