What to expect

Immerse yourself in the awe-inspiring beauty of one of Alaska’s most accessible glaciers! For those seeking a more immersive experience, the Adventure Trek offers a longer, more extensive journey—ideal for those craving more adventure.

No prior experience is necessary, but this is one of our most challenging glacier trips and requires a certain level of physical fitness. Participants should be comfortable hiking 6+ miles over uneven ground, including areas with steep inclines, to fully enjoy this trek.

On this adventure, hikers venture beyond the main terminus ‘Ice Falls’ area, exploring the heart of the Matanuska Glacier and less-visited regions. You'll journey through a frozen ancient landscape, discovering unique features that are more difficult to access. The Adventure Trek is highly personalized with a guide-to-client ratio of 1:4, ensuring that the experience is tailored to the group's abilities and preferences.

The Matanuska Glacier is a massive 26-mile-long advancing valley glacier nestled in the rugged Chugach Mountains, just 100 miles north of Anchorage, Alaska.
