Once home to Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor, Casa Kimberly is one of Puerto Vallarta's most iconic stops. The famous Lovers' Bridge connecting their two homes is a must-see. The Iguana restaurant on-site is perfect for a special dinner - reservations recommended.
Cuale Island is a leafy pause between downtown and the Romantic Zone, reached by little footbridges over the river. Inside, you’ll find the artisan market, shady paths, and the small Río Cuale museum tucked among trees. It’s perfect for browsing handmade crafts, picking up souvenirs, and escaping the busiest streets for a few minutes.
Los Muertos Pier is a highlight at any time of day - calm waters for swimming in the morning and a stunning light show after dark. Featured on CNN and Fodor's Travel Guide as one of the world's most beautiful piers, it's also your gateway to fishing charters and day trips to Yelapa and remote beaches down the coast.
Lázaro Cárdenas Park - also known as the Olas Altas Farmers Market - is a downtown highlight, especially on Saturday mornings during high season. Browse local art, baked goods, handcrafted souvenirs, and great food, all set among beautifully tiled mosaic benches that locals and expats built together to transform this beloved green space.
Olas Altas is where Vallarta’s Old Town feels most alive sun, sand, and a constant hum of cafés, taco stands, and music drifting off the street. By day, surfers and swimmers crowd the beach near Los Muertos Pier; by night, the same blocks turn into a relaxed bar-and-restaurant crawl. Your guide will highlight reliable spots for seafood, cocktails, and late-night bites, plus easy shortcuts between beach and plaza and photo spots.
By day this stretch of the Malecón is a peaceful walk, but after dark it comes alive with local food stalls serving up some of Vallarta's best street food. Look out for roasted corn, tamales, homemade ice cream, and tres leches cake - and if you spot tosti locos, don't walk past without trying one
