Valid international driving licence issued by the Geneva Conventions (1949).
At the time of use, it is mandatory to display a valid passport and a valid international driver's license obtained from a recognized institution in your country.
Please note that if you do not meet the Japanese legal requirements, you will not be able to rent a room.
The validity of an international driver's license is one year from the date of issuance, and the validity of driving in Japan is one year from the date of entry (as confirmed by the stamp of the date of entry into Japan in the passport).However, if a person recorded in the Basic Resident Register of Japan re-enters Japan within a period of less than three months after leaving Japan, the date of re-entry will not be the "date of landing (the date from which the driving validity period in Japan begins)".
To drive in Japan, you need to present one of the following drivers' licenses and three passports.
(i) International driver's license based on Geneva Conventions
Driving with an international driver's license obtained from a member state of the Paris Convention (1926), the Washington Convention (1943), or the Vienna Convention (1968) is not permitted in Japan.

<How long you can drive in Japan>
One year from the date of landing in Japan or the validity period of the relevant license, whichever is shorter.
