3 hours (approximately)
Offered in: English

The host's home is located in a quiet residential area. You can experience Japanese food as if you were staying with a Japanese family. The menu is Japanese home cooking, either “Oshizushi (pressed-sushi) Set”, “Seasonal Omotenashi Gozen (hospitality dish)” or "Sushi home party". After having fun cooking, you can enjoy a tasting in a traditional Japanese-style room with alcove.
Don't worry—the table is sunken kotatsu-style, so you won't have to sit seiza-style. After your meal, enjoy the Japanese cultural experience of tea ceremony.
The host's home is within 10-minute walk from Kintetsu Ikoma Station. Ikoma Station is easily accessible from Osaka and Kyoto. Why don't you try Japanese food experience in Nara, the ancient capital of Japan, where time passes slowly and nature abounds.

What to expect

You will cook Nara's local cuisine and Japanese home cooking with your host at her home. The home is a house in a quiet residential area. It is located on a hillside in a secluded area. You will have a chance to relax and taste the dishes you have prepared in a traditional Japanese-style room. The Japanese-style room has a tokonoma (alcove) and tea utensils of traditional Japanese culture. The table is a horigotatsu (Dining table with a floor under the table that can be dug out to stretch your legs.) style, so there is no need to sit on the floor. Relax and enjoy Japanese food. Please tell me about your country's cuisine too. Let's share our food cultures together!
The host, who is also a tea ceremony instructor, will demonstrate Japanese tea ceremony. Tea ceremony has deep roots in Zen Buddhism, and the host will prepare matcha with a spirit of hospitality. Please enjoy traditional Japanese sweets and matcha after your meal.
