    Marangu Gate (1,800m/5,905ft) to Mandara Hut

    Commence your Kilimanjaro trek by departing Arusha/Moshi at approximately 0800hrs to reach Marangu Gate for the Mountain Climb Registration. Traverse a narrow trail through Kilimanjaro's rainforest, with Kisambioni as the midway point for a picnic lunch. Post-lunch, continue through the rainforest until reaching Mandara Hut. Enjoy leisure time or opt for a brief walk to Mahundi Crater, offering impressive views to the east over Taveta and to the northwest to Mawenzi Peak on clear days, making the short hike highly rewarding.

    Mandara Hut (2,743m/9,000ft) to Horombo Hut

    Following breakfast, leave Mandara Hut and Kilimanjaro forests en route to Horombo Hut. The majority of today's trek will traverse Kilimanjaro moorland, a stony terrain adorned with arid plant life. Pause for a picnic lunch at Kambi ya Taabu before proceeding to Horombo Hut. In case of clear weather, relish stunning vistas of Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. Reach Horombo Hut by approximately 1500hrs, and unwind for the remainder of the afternoon.

    Horombo Hut (3,720m/12,200ft) to Mawenzi Hut

    The additional day and night at Horombo are perfect for allowing the body to acclimate. A suggested activity for acclimatization is a hike towards Mawenzi, passing through Zebra Rocks (approximately 3 hours uphill and 1.5 hours downhill).

    Horombo Hut (3,720m/12,200ft) to Kibo Hut

    Following breakfast, proceed with your climb into the Alpine desert, passing the final water point at 13,550 ft/4,130m. Fill your water bottles for the journey until your return to Horombo hut in two nights, unless you choose to purchase mineral water at Kibo hut. The summit lies an additional 3,921 ft/1,195m higher, and your ultimate ascent will take place during the upcoming night. Aim to retire around 18:30hrs, prioritizing rest and sleep.

    At approximately 23:30 hours, you'll awaken. After enjoying some tea and biscuits, you embark into the night, facing the most challenging phase. The initial trail involves navigating rocky terrain up to Hans Meyer point (17,225ft/5,250m), a suitable resting spot. The path then winds its way to Gillman’s point (18,639ft/5,681m) on the crater rim. This part is notably steep, featuring loose stones, demanding considerable physical and mental exertion.

    Conclude your trek after breakfast with a descent to Marangu Gate, passing through Kilimanjaro's cloud forest. Exercise caution due to slippery trails. Sign for departure and receive summit certificates at Marangu Gate: silver for Gillman's Point (18,652ft/5,685m) achievers and gold for Uhuru Peak (19,341ft/5,895m) conquerors. Our vehicles await to return you to Arusha, including accommodation and meals.
