On the beautiful Grote Markt in front of City Hall, we meet.
A brief overview will be your guideline.
On top of the old town, we begin, yes, the old street level is 10 feet below us.
And yes, you are welcome to visit this. We will show you the entrance on the way.
Upon the banks of the river, we look for the last remnants of the first city.
From here, we search for the first inhabitants and what they were up to.
We follow the progress of the city's expansion.
We pay close attention to the happenings of the sixteenth century, commonly referred to as our golden age.
This city was the most prosperous city in Northern Europe.
It all ended abruptly.
What went wrong, and why did it happen?
This walk will reveal it to you.
