The number of murals in downtown Tucson has grown exponentially in recent years supported by City of Tucson funding and public interest. Take a tour from Dorothy Yanez, a Presidio Museum tour guide, who literally wrote the book on Tucson's downtown murals. She'll show you murals you may never find on your own and share with you the stories behind the murals.

The Mainly Murals Walking Tour begins at The Tucson Presidio Museum and showcases many of the murals found in the downtown area, such as: YMCA Tucson Mural Joe Pagac's mural highlights different aspects of the YMCA's offerings, including basketball, swimming, and horseback riding. Transit Building Mural Artist Jessica Gonzales explained that people line up outside the Transit building in the mornings to get their bus passes. The City of Tucson wanted to add something interesting to the corner for people to look at while they were standing in line. The main theme of the murals is both self-exploration and physical exploration. Rock the Spot Murals Rock the Spot is a yearly event that showcases graffiti art. New mural are painted each year by renowned and up-and-coming graffiti artists to help them share their voices. Attendees on the tour will learn about the artists, mural histories, and the artists' inspirations behind the pieces.
