Please arrive at the Nelson Mandela Gateway to Robben Island, located in the Silo District at the V&A Waterfront, at least 30 minutes before your scheduled departure time. Be sure to bring either your original passport or a digital copy on your phone. After boarding the shared ferry, you'll enjoy a scenic 30-minute journey across open waters to the Robben Island Museum. Upon arrival at the island's jetty, you'll disembark and join a guided tour aboard a shared bus. The tour will be led by a former political prisoner, who will provide live commentary on the island's rich and poignant history, pointing out the residences of former inmates and other significant landmarks. The experience culminates with a visit to the prison cell where former President Nelson Mandela was held, along with the chance to walk in his footsteps on the iconic Long Walk to Freedom. At the end of the tour, you'll return to the jetty for your journey back.
