The Marie Tak van Poortvliet Museum Domburg tells the story of Domburg as an artists’ village, where the coastal light, dunes and sea inspired painters such as Jan Toorop and Piet Mondriaan. Housed in a recreation of an early twentieth century exhibition pavilion, it combines classic modern art with changing exhibitions that keep the town’s creative legacy alive.
The Hoge Hil is the highest dune in Domburg and offers wide views across the village, beach, dunes and North Sea. This scenic spot was also loved by artists of the Domburg School, who were inspired by the area’s distinctive coastal light.
The Johanneskerk in Domburg is the town’s oldest building, with a tower dating back to around 1250 and a long history of rebuilding and renewal. Its striking silhouette on the Markt also inspired Piet Mondriaan, who captured the church in several paintings during his stays in Domburg.
