The tour starts with Cycling through the narrow alleys of Lecce old town.

You will cycle for one hour (18km) surrounded by ancient olive trees plantations and beautiful Masserias (Farm houses) till you arrive to the Town of Sternatia. Sternatia is one of the 11 towns that form an area called Grecia salentina. Grecìa Salentina is an area in near the town of Lecce which is inhabited by the Griko people, an ethnic Greek minority in southern Italy who speak Griko, a variant of Greek. The Greeks have been establishing settlements in Southern Italy from prehistoric times up to the Byzantine era. In Sternatia you will: - Visit a 15th century olive oil mill - Visit Palace Granafei and the main church of Sternatia - Visit an oil Producer (OLIVE OIL TASTE) - Bar Brake for a Leccese coffee and Pasticciotto (Local Snack)

Visit with a local guide from Sternatia an ancient (15th century) underground olive oil mill carved into the soft limestone rock. This mill as many others in the area was used for the production of Lamp oil. The Lamp oil was exported to the rest of Europe. All the big cities such as London, Amsterdam etc were illuminated by it. With the installation of gas light in the 19th century, the fast decline of the oil lamps started. After this you will Visit a now a day olive oil producer that will offer you a TASTE of the delicious Extra virgin olive oil made in this area.
