Experience one of Borneo’s most memorable wildlife encounters at the Semenggoh Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. Home to over 20 semi-wild orangutans, the center offers a rare chance to watch these remarkable primates return from the surrounding forest for scheduled feedings in a natural outdoor setting. Rangers will brief you on the center’s conservation mission, while your guide helps spot any orangutans visible along the forest trail. A visit here supports ongoing rehabilitation efforts and offers an inspiring glimpse into the lives of endangered orangutans, an experience not to be missed.
After the orangutan encounter, enjoy a scenic 45 minutes drive through the beautiful Sarawak countryside to the Annah Rais Longhouse. Upon arrival, guests are greeted with tuak, the village’s traditional rice wine, before exploring this historic longhouse. With your guide, discover the rich culture of the Bidayuh (Land Dayak) people, once known as skilled headhunters, and learn about their unique architecture, farming traditions, and remarkable use of bamboo. The visit concludes with a delicious ethnic lunch featuring freshly cooked bamboo chicken (Ayam Pansuh) and wild jungle vegetables, served on the longhouse patio for an authentic taste of Sarawak.
