Enjoy a spectacular day and a picnic on your way back. Portillo, a stunning ski resort located in the Andes Mountains, close to the border between Chile and Argentina, in Paso Los Libertadores. Located 160 kilometers from Santiago, it not only offers incredible ski slopes, but also a hotel complex, with accommodation at an altitude of 2,880 meters and peaks that reach 3,330 meters.

    The Monument "to the victory of Chacabuco" is located on the Carretera General San Martin (road to Los Andes), and represents the final path to Chile's independence and the end of the Spanish Reconquista. The Spanish reconquest between 1814 and 1817, where Chile was once again under Spanish rule, under the governments of Mariano Osorio and Francisco Marcó del Pont. The famous Army of Liberation of the Andes, grouped in Argentina, began its march towards Chile in January 1817. The first military action of this Army was the Battle of Chacabuco, on February 12, 1817 and marked the end of the Spanish Reconquista. The fighting took place on the Chacabuco farm, around 100 km away. north of Santiago.

    Portillo

    Portillo is the most traditional ski center in Chile, having been built in the late 1940s. Located 3 km from the border with Argentina, on the road that leads to Mendoza, it is nestled in the Andes mountain range and at the foot of the Laguna del Inca – a chromatic spectacle in itself, which varies from blue to green in different shades. 164 km from the capital Santiago, the station is synonymous with refinement and comfort.
