As you travel from Kigali to Bugesera, you will see the changing landscapes of Rwanda unfold before you. Stop at the Kicukiro Memorial, where your guide will share the history of the site and its significance during the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. Take time to learn about what happened here, pay your respects, and reflect on the stories of those who lost their lives. The visit provides an important opportunity to understand part of Rwanda’s history and the country’s journey of remembrance and recovery.
At Ntarama Church, you will walk through the site with your local guide, who will gently explain the history and significance of the church. You will have time to listen, observe, and understand the stories connected to this place. The visit is unhurried, giving you space for reflection and the opportunity to ask questions in a respectful setting.
At Nyamata Church, you will be guided through the site while learning about its history and significance. Your guide will share clear local context as you move through the church and its surroundings. You will have time to observe quietly, reflect, and ask questions, allowing the visit to be meaningful and handled with care.
After visiting Nyamata and Ntarama Churches, continue to a nearby village in Gashora for a brief look at everyday rural life in Rwanda. Your guide will take you around the village, showing you local homes, the surroundings, and animals kept by families on their farms. If people are going about their daily activities, you may also have the opportunity to greet them, ask questions, and learn about their way of life. This short visit offers a simple and authentic glimpse into the daily life of the local community.
At Gashora Lake, you will arrive at a peaceful and scenic spot where you can relax and enjoy the calm waters. Take in the natural beauty, breathe in the fresh air, and reflect on the day’s experiences. This is your time to unwind, take photos, and connect with nature before continuing back to Kigali .
At the end of the tour, you will be comfortably dropped off at your hotel or preferred location in Kigali.
