The romantic Danish heritage tradition of weaving paper hearts originates from the fairytale writer Hans Christian Andersen. He created the oldest still existing woven paper heart for his sweetheart Mathilde back in 1861.
Our company name, Ugly Duckli, pays tribute to Hans Christian Andersen's timeless tale, "The Ugly Duckling," reflecting our dedication to honoring his legacy.

We will meet at our private apartment/Ugly Duckli office. To enter, please ring the door bell, which says "Ugly Duckli"

Throughout the two-hour experience, Rikke's passion for sharing Copenhagen's cultural richness shines through as she regales you with captivating stories and anecdotes. From the origins of the weaving technique to its modern-day significance, each tale adds depth to your understanding of Danish heritage.
