The venue is an old private house in a wonderful location in Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture, with Matsumoto Castle in front of it.
No matter what time of year you visit, you can experience the Japanese art of calligraphy while viewing the beautiful Japanese garden.
A master calligrapher will carefully teach you how to use the tools and manners, so that even beginners can enjoy writing.
You can write your favorite characters on colored paper to create a beautiful, one-of-a-kind work of art.
It is a great way to display them at home as a memento of your trip or as a souvenir.
What's Included
Meeting and pickup
There is a post box right in front of the ticket gate of Matsumoto Station. Please stand in front of it and wait.
What to expect
After gathering, we will drive to the venue “Ikegami Hyakutaketei”.
(about 10 minutes)

After arriving at the venue, I will explain about the trial lesson.
↓
I will write a character of your choice as a model.
↓
After practicing on five sheets of half-sheets of paper, students will be asked to actually write on colored paper.
*The shikishi can be framed and taken home.
The time required is about 60 minutes.
*After the trial lesson, you can visit the Japanese garden and tea ceremony room at the venue.
*Matsumoto Castle is also right in front of the school, making it ideal for sightseeing.
