During the tour, your guide will share fascinating information about the cloud forest and help you observe iconic species such as the Emerald Tucancillo, the majestic Shining Quetzal and hopefully spider monkeys, as well as enjoy breathtaking views of the Monteverde Mountains.

Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve protects more than 5,000 hectares of tropical forest, including primary and secondary forest areas. This natural sanctuary is home to many unique species that you can discover during a guided tour with an expert naturalist guide.

To enter the Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve, proceed to the official parking lot and validate your entrance at reception. Then you will take internal transportation to the trails. We recommend purchasing the ticket online as “Heart of the Forest” and arriving 20 minutes before the tour.

What to expect

The Monte Verde Biological Reserve is an excellent option to explore the cloud forest with a naturalist guide, a specialist in this life zone full of trees with plants, inhabiting the forest canopy these plants are known as epiphytic plants, you will find gigantic trees called Ficus strangulators full of wildlife, many of these flora and fauna are endemic or native to the place which makes them special, unique to the life zone known as tropical cloud forest. Throughout the walk the guide will accompany you all the time sharing with you all kinds of interesting and valuable information to understand this magical place. At the end of the walk, your guide will accompany you to the hummingbird garden, where you can see up to 7 species of hummingbirds.
