On this tour, you’ll experience two of India's most exciting attractions: the vibrant UNESCO-listed Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve with several National Parks and home to the world's largest population of Asiatic elephants, the second-highest number of tigers in India, and a variety of other unique wildlife. You'll also visit the iconic Mysore Palace, one of the most popular monuments in India.
Whether you’re an adventure seeker or a family with children, you'll gain insider knowledge from expert guides as you explore the rich nature and culture of this captivating region.
It’s about a 5-hour journey from Bangalore to the Nilgiri Biosphere reserve. We depart at 7:30 AM to ensure we arrive in time for check-in and lunch at our accommodation. The scenic drive through lush countryside and charming villages offers a wonderful glimpse into the region’s vegetation, culture, and local way of life.
At 3:30 PM, we embark on a three-hour jungle safari. The UNESCO Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve is one of the largest protected forests in India. This region boasts the largest population of Asiatic elephants in the world and is home to the second-largest tiger population in the country. Unlike the open grasslands of the African savannah, the Indian jungles are densely wooded, with tall trees surrounded by grasses and lower-lying vegetation. Wildlife can be incredibly close—sometimes just 50 feet away—but can remain unseen unless a trained naturalist points it out. To enhance your experience, we do not use buses for safaris. Instead, we explore the forest in smaller jeeps, allowing for a deeper and more intimate experience of the wilderness. In Bandipur, keep an eye out for leopards, dholes (wild dogs), elephants, tigers, gaurs (Indian bison), bears, sambar deer, various antelopes, and a wide array of birds.
Embark on another safari into the dense jungles, this time during the early morning hours to be among the first to enter the forest. We hope you encounter plenty of wildlife today! After breakfast, we check out and head to the royal city of Mysore, about 90 minutes away
We explore this bejeweled palace, among the most visited sites in India and the home of one of the wealthiest individuals in the world in its heyday – the Maharaja of Mysore. With insights from our expert guide, learn about the Wodeyar rulers and their incredible contributions to putting this region on the global map as we leisurely survey and explore the interiors & exteriors of this dazzling palace.
Go on a stroll inside an 1880s market stuck in a time warp. As you take a walk back in time, marvel at the sights, smells and sounds of the shops & people in the bazaar selling the choicest fruits, flowers, vegetables, bangles and local produce such as Jaggery, Attar, Masalas etc.
It’s about a 3-hour drive from Mysore to Bangalore, where you'll be dropped off at your location, marking the end of a memorable two days of exploration.
