This sailing activity takes you to a unique part of the Netherlands, just south of Amsterdam. We will sail on the lakes, open bridges ourselves, pass windmills and the famous polders. Live like a local.
I am a licensed and highly experienced sailor. Currently working as a skipper on the tourboats in Amsterdam, but on my off days I'm happy to accomodate small groups to this unique experience.
Normal departure time is 10.30, and return around 16.00, but these times can be scheduled different if it suits you better to start early or start later. Pick up location can be discussed. Spoken languages: English, German, French and Dutch.

Meeting and pickup
-- important - as it is winter, the weather is normally too unpredictable. Yes, on a sunny day it's fantastic. but please first email me if the tour is possible -- I will be waiting with my car near the exit of Metro 51 Amsterdam. Get off at "Station Zuid" and we will coordinate where you will join into my car. Other locations for pick up and drop off can be arranged and are generally not a problem if it is not too difficult a drive to get there (for example Amsterdam city center can be very time consuming by car). I can take maximum 4 passengers in my car. Sailing times can be scheduled differently as well. We can communicate the times that suit after booking.
What to expect
From there, we will board the sailboat. It's a relatively small but comfortable ship, and we will make a tour of about 3 to 4 hours, depending on the wind. During the tour you will be asked to assist in opening bridges, assisting with sailing, or sail the boat yourself if you are experienced.
During the tour, you will be sailing through the polders of the Netherlands, where we will be looking down on the animals that walk lower than us. During the tour we will see windmills, houseboats, a famous construction yard for luxury yachts, and much more.
If you have never sailed before: Don't worry. I can manage the boat, and instruct you on essentials if you wish so. Lifevests are mandatory for youngsters and when wind is above 4bft. On hot days, swimming is possible.
I will bring coffee and tea plus some small snacks.
Depending on group age and experience with sailing, the trip may be cancelled with wind > 6bft and unpredictable rain.
