    Situated at the foot of Signal Hill, on the fringe of the City Centre, Bo-Kaap known as Malay Quarter, dates back to the 1760's. Numerous rental houses “huurhuisjes”; were built and leased to slaves brought from Malaysia, Indonesia and the rest of Africa to work in the Cape. Houses were later repainted with bright colours by their owners to express their freedom! Take a walk and discover these awe-inspiring colorful houses, explore the Cape Malays culture and cuisine or visit some of the art galleries to take a look at locally produced crafts.

    This is a famous monument of the only dog -Great Dane- in SA, ever to be enlisted in the Royal Navy shore establishment in Simon’s Town between 1939 and 1944. Able Seaman ‘Just Nuisance’ was rating with rank, pay, rations and duties – the same privileges as any other rating with the same rank. of ‘Able Seaman’ (AB)served at HMS Afrikander, a Royal Navy, South Africa. He died in 1944 at the age of seven years and was buried with full military honors.

    Cape Point is the small cape jutting out towards the east from The Cape of Good Hope at the southern end of the Cape Peninsula. The Point has been treated with respect by sailors and navigators. The lighthouse on top of the pick is historically a landmark of great navigational value until the introduction of radar. At night ships had to approach closely to obtain bearings and thereby were exposed to the dangers of Bellows Rock and Albatross Rock nearby.
