History: The villa was built in 1787 on a pre-existing Franciscan monastery by Cardinal Angelo Maria Durini, who had also obtained the nearby Villa del Balbiano from the Giovio family. Cardinal Durini passionately dedicated himself to the expansion and embellishment of the villa, creating an Italian garden with statues, fountains and tree-lined avenues. Over the centuries, the villa has had numerous owners, including Count Guido Monzino, explorer and mountaineer, who enriched it with works of art and memorabilia from his expeditions. Architecture: The villa has a neoclassical façade with an ashlar portal and two bell towers, a remnant of the ancient church of the Franciscan monastery.
