Helmsley is a handsome market town on the edge of the North York Moors, known for its castle ruins, traditional shops and lively square. A perfect base for exploring nearby abbeys and moorland.
Pickering is a historic gateway to the North York Moors, known for its castle, medieval wall paintings in St Peter and St Paul Church, and as the southern terminus of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.
Goathland is a moorland village famous for its steam railway station and film connections, including Heartbeat and Harry Potter. Surrounded by heather moorland, it offers classic North York Moors scenery and walks.
