    Mevlanakapı

The Mevlevihane Kapı is the Rhesion Gate of the Byzantine period. The Greek inscription on the lintel, which refers to a 60-day repair, has been copied in Anthologia Palatina and annotated as “an inscription of the Rhesion Gate.” Byzantine sources also mention names such as Polyandrion/Myriandrion (Many Men/Thousand Men). These probably refer to the tombs in the vicinity. The bridge of the moat dates to the Ottoman period.
