The colony is home to a thriving population of African penguins, also known as jackass penguins due to their distinctive braying call. These adorable birds have been residing here since 1982
Starting from the vibrant beach town of Muizenberg, known for its colourful beach huts and surfing culture, this scenic walk takes you along the coastline to the charming fishing village of Kalk Bay. The route follows a well-maintained path, partially paved, and offers stunning ocean views. You’ll pass through St. James, famous for its tidal pool and picturesque beach. As we walk, I’ll share the rich history and cultural stories of the area. We’ll enjoy the fresh sea breeze and keep an eye out for marine life, such as dolphins and, if we’re lucky, whales. The path is dotted with benches where you can pause and take in the stunning beauty of False Bay.
