    Elsen Tasarkhai Sand Dune

We will drive to Elsen Tasarkhai sand dune /called Semi-Gobi/ which is 290 KM away from Ulaanbaatar. This place has a sand dune for walking and rides a Camel. An additional Elsen-Tasarkhai is part of the Mongol Els Sand Dunes, which stretch across the provinces of Tuv, Uvurkhangai, and Bulgan. The sand dunes extend for a total length of approximately 80 km. The Khugnu Tarna main road divides the southern part of the dunes from the so-called northern Mongolian sands. The Tarna River flows along the western side of the sand dunes, with water running underground beneath the surface. As a result, vegetation such as willow, elm, dogwood, and shrubs grows in this area. To the north rises the rocky and forested Khugnu Khan Mountain. The site known as Ikh Mongol, which marks the geographical center of Mongolia, lies to the south of the sand dunes.

    Erdene Zuu Monastery

Kharkhorin City (Karakorum) was the capital of the Great Mongol Empire in the 13th century. It is located on the right bank of the Orkhon River, approximately 360 km southwest of Ulaanbaatar, the present capital of Mongolia. In 1380, Karakorum was destroyed. However, nearly two centuries later, Avtai Khan, the founder of Erdene Zuu Monastery, established his royal yurt on the same site. Today, Kharkhorin is rich in historical and cultural attractions.
