Mt. Takao is a spiritual mountain located west of Tokyo. It is about one hour from Shinjuku by train.
There is an old temple named Yakuoin, built in the 7th century. The mountain was considered sacred, and its nature has been preserved for more than 1300 years.
This mountain has various hiking trails, some along the river and some along the ridge. If climbing up the trail is difficult, you can take a cable car, which makes climbing much easier.

At the top of Mt. Takao, there are shops where you can buy food or drinks. Takao Visitor Center is a museum where you can learn about the nature of Mt. Fuji. On a clear day, you can see a beautiful view of Mt. Fuji.

3Mt. Takaosan Hiking Course
There are various hiking courses, and you can choose two of them. Some are along the river, and some are along the ridge. You can enjoy seeing flowers and hearing birds' voices.
