    Udawalawe National Park

Udawalawe National Park is widely considered the best place in Sri Lanka—and arguably all of Asia—to see wild Asian elephants in their natural habitat. Because of the park's open grasslands and the central reservoir, sightings are nearly guaranteed year-round. What You Will SeeThe park’s landscape is a mix of abandoned teak plantations, scrub jungle, and vast grasslands surrounding the Udawalawe Reservoir. The "Gentle Giants": You will see herds of 50 to 100 elephants, including many mothers with young calves. They are often spotted bathing in the reservoir, dusting themselves, or grazing right alongside the safari tracks.Diverse Mammals: While elephants are the stars, you’ll also see water buffalo (often wallowing in mud), spotted deer, sambar deer, wild boar, and monkeys (toque macaques and grey langurs). The Elusive Leopard: Though Yala is more famous for leopards, they do live here. Park Entrance tickets are included for tour.
