Pick up from Marrakech to start your journey to Mount Toubkal (4167m) which is a true North African adventure in 3 unforgettable days. We go deep into the High Atlas Mountains that are truly sublime with a rustic landscape. Day 1 enjoy the mountain village (small hike to acclimatise) then sleep in an authentic Moroccan local guest house and onto an amazing hike from Imlil to Toubkal’s basecamp, then spend a night in a climber’s refuge (Toubkal Hut) at the altitude of (3207m). Tackle the steep, rocky climb to the summit and earn stunning views which are magnificent over the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco.
Day 1: Marrakech-Imlil pickup from your Marrakech hotel at 9am and travel by private vehicle south towards the High Atlas Mountains, approximately 2 hours. Arrive in the village of Imlil beneath the Atlas’ highest peak, Jebel Toukbal. You will then meet your guide where you can ask any questions about the coming days and have a hike around Imlil so you can climatise and enjoy local life as you explore around the village and have the opportunity to see the beautiful waterfall. You will then stop for lunch and make your way to an authentic Moroccan guest house where you can relax and enjoy an evening meal.
Today is where the adventure starts to Mount Toubkal. After breakfast your guide and mule team will meet you at your authentic Moroccan guest house. Once your luggage is loaded, you will begin your trek where you'll climb out of the valley and make your way to the breathtaking Azzaden Valley. The views will show you a mountain stream flanked by thick walnut forests that leads up to Toubkal. After around 6 hours of trekking (hot lunch provided) you will spend the night in the refuge (3207m) where you will get to meet other hikers from around the world. After an evening meal you will relax, ready for the morning summit. If you need to hire trekking poles (own expense) we can sort this for you.
An early start around 4am after breakfast we will take you to the top of the highest peak in North Africa. The summit has an incomparable view of the Atlas Mountains, the Sahara Desert and the environments that have enclosed them for centuries. We then descend to the refuge for lunch. The day involves around 8 hours of walking and finishes back in Imlil where private transportation will take you back to Marrakech or for a small fee you can stay an extra night in Imlil and free transportation will be provided to take you back to Marrakech the following day.
