I offer you to take a friendly, laid-back, interesting and informative trip to western Georgia, where you will discover not just sightseeing places, but also feel the local atmosphere and captivating flare. All of the places we are going to see have been visited by me many times and I guarantee you see not only "touristy" areas but immerse yourself into "aboriginal" culture and traditions. This trip is great for everyone - families, friends, couples. After all, who doesn't like beautiful scenery, natural monuments, historic places and great food?
We can pick you up anywhere in Tbilisi.
Natural wonder of Georgia with the archaeological evidence that it was once covered by the sea and was inhabited by dinosaurs (so they say and show examples!) You can take a long walk to the bottom of the canyon and/or explore it by the boat. Must see!
The legend goes that Amirani (Georgian equivalent of Prometheus) was chained to a mountain on the nearby gorge. Here you can roam through illuminated caves of more than 1 km and observe magnificent stalactites and stalagmites hanging from the ceiling of the picturesque passage. Even better, take a boat ride instead and sail through turquoise waters of the cave. Fascinating experience!
Kutaisi used to be the capital of the country before eventually moving back to Tbilisi. It has captivating atmosphere, rich history, culture and hospitable people full of humor. I suggest we take a walk in the center of the city and see the White Bridge, opera house and cute narrow streets of the old town.
This is the village of my ancestors next to Martvili. When free, I spend most of the time there. If my aunt, a virtuoso chef, happens to be in Bandza, she will cook the best lunch you can possibly have. If not, there is a fantastic spot near Kutaisi called Kvamli where the locals go. Okay, it's also a bit touristy in summer but at least it's not right next to the attractions... You know what I mean.
Commute from Tbilisi to Martvili (roundtrip), which happens mostly on a new highway, takes about 7 hours.
