What to expect
Visit the 1,500-year-old Oguni Shrine and Kotomachi Pond, and enjoy a leisurely stroll along pathways lined with over 1,000 vibrant maple trees. Afterward, savor Japanese snacks at Kotomachi Yokocho, right in front of the shrine.
Next, try traditional cuisine at a century-old Japanese restaurant or enjoy healthy vegetable ramen at Kinjiro Ramen, housed in a beautifully renovated 100-year-old traditional home.
Then, experience traditional Japanese archery (kyudo) at Amenomiya Shrine with guidance from an authentic priest. Alternatively, try calligraphy at SUIKOU’s atelier, where you can create your own work or purchase her pieces.
Finally, visit an AKAYAKI pottery workshop to admire or buy beautiful red pottery unique to Morimachi, once presented to Emperor Taisho.
Afterward, return to Kakegawa by train and catch the Shinkansen to Tokyo or Osaka. Enjoy a compact one-day trip filled with Japanese culture!
