Itinerary

Duration: 4 to 6 hours (approximately)
  • 1

Our tours starts from your collection point, where we embark on a 40 minute drive on road followed by a a 45 minute gentle, off-road journey to Whale Point. We will stop off at Gentoo Penguins on the beach and in their breeding rookeries for approximately 1 hour. The resident Black-necked Swan, the Falklands largest freshwater breeding bird can occasionally be found on nearby ponds. We will then continue off road again for 20 minutes to see Elephant Seals. Here we stop for up to 1 hour with these docile giants. They can be seen sleeping on the beach and greens, or in the large wallows they make in the soft ground. Usually unwilling to be disturbed, they take little notice of visitors when on land, but do provide a lively display when defending their territory during the breeding season. Here we will enjoy our packed lunch. On return to Stanley we will have 40 minutes of gentle off road driving and a 40 minute trip back to Stanley on tarmac.
