This experience combines film photography, slow travel, and local cultural insight into one immersive session. You will explore Asakusa’s backstreets with a local photographer, learning how to observe light, geometry, and everyday life while shooting with vintage cameras.
Unlike typical photo tours, the focus is not only on taking pictures, but on changing the way you see the city.
What's Included
Meeting and pickup
Please meet in front of Tokyo Cruise Cafe inside Sumida Park, along the riverside. It is about a 5-minute walk from Asakusa Station (Ginza / Toei Asakusa Line). Your guide will be waiting with a film camera.
What to expect
This small-group (max 3 people) walking experience takes place in Asakusa, one of Tokyo’s most atmospheric neighborhoods. Using vintage film cameras, you will walk through backstreets, temples, and local alleys while learning how to see light, geometry, and everyday life differently.
Each participant will receive:
1 roll of 35mm film (24 exposures)
Film camera rental
Basic photography guidance
Choice of digital scans OR developed film negatives
We start near the Sumida River, walk through Asakusa’s hidden streets and Senso-ji area, and finish around Hoppy Street.
This is a guided photography experience, not a professional photoshoot. You will take your own photos while learning techniques for composition, light, and timing.
This experience is ideal for travelers who want a slower, more intentional, and personal way to experience Tokyo.
