Go on an E-bike tour that takes you through the countryside of the territory of Romagna in order to discover the wonders of taste, nature of these lands and meet the locals. Our expert guides will lead you through historical highlights such as the main square of Forlì, home of the 10th century cathedral and of the local market, the fortresses and castles of the "City of Sun", the thermal village of Castrocaro Terme, among others. Halfway through, we make a stop at the Marta Valpiani Winery. Sitting at the top of a hill, the place has an alluring view to the Calanchi Mounts and the Cozzi Valley: the perfec place to discover the "Juice of Romagna"! Here, a member of the Valpiani family will take you on a visit to their cellar, explain their philosophy and, to conclude, you'll taste their biodynamic wines to be paired with local delights. After the experience, we head back to Forlì using secondary roads and touching small villages and districts, such as Villagrappa and Quattro.
On foot: from downtown Forlì, take Corso Giuseppe Mazzini for 1 km, until the rotary, then turn right and go straight. Cross the next rotary and you'll arrive / By Train: exit the Forlì station, go straight on Viale della Libertà, turn right in Via Silver Sirotti, then follow the arches.
Our meeting point is in this square, in front of the supermarket COOP where it is possible to have a coffee, refreshments and loo. Here we'll have our pre tour briefing and bike fitting.
This is the heart of the city, home of the City House and an important Abbey. We'll make a fast stop here for pictures and storytelling.
After exiting the historical city centre we'll enter the cyclepath in the left margin of the river Montone, a quiet and tranquil path that will lead us to our next destination.
This city, a fraction of Castrocaro Terme, which translation is "city of sun" is a precious little gem in the heart of the Tuscan-Romagnolo Apennines. Known as an "ideal fortified town" we'll make some stops to explore its architectural and historical monuments.
To welcome us in the City of Sun is the Castle of the Governor (or Capitain of the Square). Time for a stop for pictures and some curious and historical facts about it.
From castle to another castle. This structure is part of the complex of the maggior fortress of Terra del Sole. We'll pass by it, before returning to the margins of the river.
After having bypassed the urban part of Castrocaro, we start climbing up the hill where this rock seats. We'll have time for pictures of the outside and some storytelling. The view from here is also outstanding, as it faces the Apennines mounts and mountains.
As we climb up in this secondary, panoramic road, vineyards start to make their way in the landscape. These are the first estates of Marta Valpiani and we'll get to pass in between them, before reaching a scentful field of lavender (best moment to see it is middle June).
At the summit of the hill, we'll make a right turn to enter the winery of Marta Valpiani. It is time to drink some water, relax, take a stroll throughout the beautiful estate, meet Elisa's cute little dog, prior to go on a guided visit to the cellar. After it, it will be wine time! You'll get to taste Marta Valpiani's eccellent biodynamic wines that will be paired with home made tradition food, such as piadine, local cheese and cuts.
After the tasting, we return to Forlì, mostly downhill, crossing this village, famous for its food companies like the Torrefazione La Forlivese, keen on processing in Italy of nuts, roasted fruit and snacks. We might make a stop at a bar for a coffee, and WC.
Prior to entering the city of Forlì we cross its district, Quattro, which stands for "four". The district has a total of 385 inhabitants. Here there's a bar where we might stop for coffee or WC.
This is our end point.
