Comacina Island is one of the best places to swim on Lake Como. The canal that separates it from the mainland is famous for its clear and quiet waters and is often called the “Portofino of Lake Como”. In addition to its natural beauty, the island has a fascinating history: in 1169 it was completely destroyed by fire during the conflicts between Como and Milan. Since then it has not been rebuilt, leaving visible even today archaeological remains and ruins, which make the island a unique place, where nature and history meet.
Varenna is one of the most romantic villages of Lake Como, recognizable by the lake for its colorful houses overlooking the water. Sailing along the coast you can admire the famous Villa Monastero, famous for its botanical gardens that extend for over two kilometers along the lake, and Villa Cipressi, known for its panoramic terraces and scenic location. According to tradition, Varenna was founded by inhabitants fleeing from Comacina Island after its medieval destruction. Even today the village retains an authentic atmosphere, among historic alleys, elegant villas and timeless views
Menaggio is one of the most lively and scenic towns on Lake Como, located in a strategic position in front of Bellagio and Varenna. From the lake you can enjoy a splendid view of the lakefront and the historic residences that characterize the area. While sailing you can observe elegant villas overlooking the water, such as Villa Mylius Vigoni (located just above the center, surrounded by greenery) and Villa Govone, testimonies of the historical importance of Menaggio as a crossing point between the lake and the commercial routes to Switzerland.
