Known as the corner of Africa where the cold Atlantic and warm Indian Oceans converge, the Cape of Good Hope is the most southwesterly point of the continent. Explore scenic hiking trails that lead to breathtaking viewpoints and the famous Cape of Good Hope sign. Although Cape Point is often referred to as the meeting point of the two oceans, it is actually where the warm Agulhas current and the cold Benguela current meet. You can walk or take a funicular (at your own cost) to South Africa's third oldest lighthouse, offering a stunning 360-degree view of the national park. This lighthouse, launched in 1860, was decommissioned after 40 years due to its high altitude, which posed a danger to sailors in cloudy weather. A new lighthouse was built at a lower altitude for safer navigation.
