Schattenburg Castle, situated in Feldkirch, Austria, is a well-preserved medieval fortress dating back to around 1200. Constructed by Count Hugo I. of Montfort, it served as the ancestral seat of the Montfort family until 1390. The Habsburgs subsequently took control, administering the castle through appointed bailiffs. Over the centuries, the castle underwent several transformations, including serving as a prison from 1778 to 1825 and later as barracks and a poorhouse.
