Stepping into the National Museum of Ethiopia feels like traveling through time. Located in the heart of Addis Ababa, this museum is a treasure trove of Ethiopia’s rich history, culture, and heritage. The highlight of the museum is Lucy, the world-famous 3.2-million-year-old hominid fossil, offering a glimpse into early human evolution. As you explore further, you’ll encounter fascinating archaeological artifacts, including ancient tools and relics that tell the story of Ethiopia’s prehistoric past. The museum also houses an impressive collection of royal regalia, traditional clothing, and ancient manuscripts that bring Ethiopia’s imperial history to life. Walking through the ethnographic section, you’ll experience the vibrant cultures of Ethiopia’s diverse ethnic groups, each with unique traditions and craftsmanship.
- Time for a break to take a quick snack with Ethiopian Coffee.
- We proceed to taste a few more dishes at a local restaurant to try out meat-based local dishes, Kitfo and Tibs.
Shola Market is where we pick-up fresh vegetables to bring to the locals for a shared cooking experience. It’s a vibrant, colorful, and busy market. Only a few markets like this exist in Addis Ababa.
This is the highlight of your trip. We’ll wrap up the tour with a visit to a local home, where we’ll cook traditional Ethiopian dishes together with local mothers and have a traditional coffee ceremony.
