Safe and Easy SUP Stand-Up Paddle in Misahualli

4 hours (approximately)
Offered in: English and 1 more

Every tour lasts up to four(4) hours and begins on the calm waters of Monkey Beach in Misahualli, the Ecuadorian Amazon.
We always hire a boat to float alongside us, so some passengers get on and off the boat, SUP paddle a bit, practice, do yoga, swim, get back in the boat, take photos, explore secluded beaches, paddle some more, etc.
From Monkey Beach we will float on the Misahualli River along gentle easy water to the Napo River, past secluded beaches, to native Kichwa villages such as Awarina and Shipati where many of our friends live.
Optional activies along the route include tiny class 1 rapids, wildlife-viewing such as monkeys and birds, visiting native villages and seeing exotic pets, fossil hunting, and even a chance to pan for gold.
When we stop on a secluded beach, one person can pan for gold while others are hunting for fossils, while another sits on the boat eating snacks.
This is a very easy laid-back tour with plenty of options for varied fitness levels and ages.

Meeting and pickup

Meeting point

Meet us at Monkey Beach, Playa de los Monos, right at the main boardwalk in the center of downtown Misahualli! Everybody on the beach knows us. Paddleboards are called "tablas de surf" or "tablas paddle" around here :)

End point
This activity ends back at the meeting point.

What to expect

We brought the first paddleboards to Misahualli. We make sustainable balsa wood paddleboards with local Kichwa woodworkers and artists. We rent paddleboards every weekend with a youth group of volunteers, and our guides are certified, educated, at least bilingual, and often trilingual or more. Safety first, fun second, and an open-minded "multiple perspectives" approach to educating travellers about this area. Everything we do is based around making sure our passengers are safe, healthy, and happy!
