    The main entrance to Diocletian’s Palace, with its magnificent niches once decorated with statues of Roman emperors, and equipped inside with an integrated mechanism of double doors known as the “human mousetrap”

    The main square of the palace, where is the mausoleum of Diocletian, now the Cathedral of St. Domnius, as well as a 3,500-year-old sphinx that poses a riddle.

    Vestibulum of Diocletian's Palace

    Here we will take a picture in the Pantheon and enter the Emperor’s apartments. An a cappella group will also perform live Dalmatian songs for us.

    Once the temple of Jupiter, the main Roman god, now the Saint John Baptistery, it is guarded at its entrance by a 3,500-year-old headless sphinx.

    Diocletian Palace Substructures

    The palace’s well-preserved substructures, once used as storage and service spaces, now offer a fascinating insight into the original layout of Diocletian’s imperial residence. In the dark underground, Daenerys Targaryen kept his dragons in chains, while their control gradually slipped away from him. It is also where slaves hid while preparing their rebellion in order to free themselves from the oppression of their masters.
