What to expect

Experience the rich food culture of Tamba Sasayama through a hands-on Tamba beef sukiyaki cooking class, using carefully selected local ingredients and traditional techniques.

The highlight of this experience is sukiyaki made with premium Tamba beef, known for its fine marbling, deep umami, and tender texture. Guests will prepare Kansai-style sukiyaki with seasonal vegetables and tofu, learning how flavors are built step by step in Japanese home cooking.

A special feature of this class is making udon noodles from scratch. Starting with flour and water, you will knead the dough using a traditional foot-kneading method. After resting, the noodles are rolled, cut, cooked, and enjoyed as the final part of the sukiyaki.

You will also prepare Tamba black soybean rice using locally grown black soybeans, a prized regional specialty known for their natural sweetness and aroma.

More than just cooking, this experience offers insight into local ingredients, traditional techniques, and everyday Japanese food culture in a relaxed countryside setting. Suitable for beginners.
