Our private day tour will take you into the hidden heartlands of Ireland to the historical Rock of Cashel. Travel time to Cashel.is 1.5 hours from Cork. The Rock of Cashel is fabled to have been created by St Patrick himself, the Rock predates this and was a seat of high importance in Ireland. Converted to a christian site in medieval times, it is dotted with structures almost 1,000 years old and a visit here is really a wonderful experience.

From the Rock, we travel nearby to the medieval Hore Abbey and learn a little more about its development and influence on Irish history throughout the ages.

From Hore Abbey, enjoy some time in Cashel town itself known for its great food and atmosphere before we continue to Cahir Castle. This Castle was used in the Film Braveheart and stands remarkably well preserved. One has the option to enjoy a guided tour, go self guided or perhaps enjoy a walk along the riverside before we return to Cork. Travel time from Cahir to Cork is 1 hour 15 minutes.

    Rock of Cashel

    The Rock of Cashel has been a place of importance since before the time of St Patrick. A seat of importance for the south of Ireland before becoming a religious site in medieval times. Your driver guide will highlight what to see and do at the Rock of Cashel and one can join a guided tour or enjoy the visit self guided. The Rock of Cashel is truely a must visit, a true diamond of Irish importance and one of the best examples of Medieval construction in Ireland and Europe.

    Dating from the 1200's, this abbey stands at the foothills of the Rock of Cashel and was run by Cistercian Monks until its demise. A wonderful experience on approach taking a footpath through open fields to explore this medieval abbey away from the hustle and bustle of other local attractions.

    This charming town is a great place to stop and enjoy lunch. Take a stroll around Cashel and choose from one of the many great little bars, cafe's and restaurants for refreshments before continuing on our great tour.

    Cahir Castle

    Cahir Castle is one of the best preserved medieval castles in Ireland and one can enjoy this castle either self guided or on a group tour. Located in the town of Cahir, you are free to choose to visit the castle or enjoy a beautiful parkland/riverside walk down to the location of the Swiss House before we return to Cork where sadly our tour ends.
