Wat Ban Den, formerly known as Wat Ribunrueang, is one of Chiang Mai’s most extraordinary temples and also one of the largest temple complexes in Chiang Mai province. When Wat Ban Den got a new abbot in 1988 the temple was in poor condition. The new abbot received many donations from the local people and Buddhists from across the country. With these donations the temple has been completely renovated and a number of impressive structures were added. Although the structures of the temple are relatively new, they are built in traditional architectural style. You can enjoy details of historic Lanna religious art, a reclining Buddha and seated Buddhas, and pay homage to the 12 animals in the Chinese Zodiac. You will undoubtedly enjoy the beauty, serenity and piece of this wonderful site. The total duration includes traveling time from Chiang Mai to Wat Ban Den.
The Mae Ngat dam and reservoir is located on the western side of the Si Lanna National Park and offers a tranquil and picturesque escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. The Mae Ngat dam was built in the 1980s to provide irrigation for agriculture in the surrounding Mae Ngat basin. The peaceful sanctuary has since become hugely popular with Chiang Mai locals and travelers to escape the city and get into northern Thailand’s beautiful nature. The serenely beautiful lake is surrounded by rolling hills and lush greenery. We will board a boat and enjoy the serenely beautiful lake from the water.
About an hour from Chiang Mai city are the Bua Thong waterfalls, also known as the Sticky Waterfalls. In Thai called Nam Phu Chet Si, the stunning multi-tiered limestone falls are located in the Si Lanna National Park, a peaceful, relaxing place with pristine forests. What makes these falls unique is that the rocks are sticky and easy to climb. Fed by calcium-rich springs, the mineral deposits have layered over many years to form what is now a cascading formation that is not slippery to walk on. There is so much grip on the rocks that you can easily walk up the falls. This waterfall is very unique and a popular place to relax.
We also make a stop at the Chedi Mae Krua Market. This market is absolutely no tourist attraction, but a real authentic local market. An interesting stop for tourists to see the everyday simple life of the people in this area. Make a stroll on the market and get an impression of Thai life outside the city. Then it’s time to return to Chiang Mai where we drop you off at the meeting point or at your hotel. The total duration includes traveling time from Chedi Mae Krua Market to Chiang Mai.
