What to expect

Step away from the cruise ship crowd and explore Alaska's Tongass National Forest on a small-group hike at Connell Lake. This scenic trail winds through towering old-growth trees, moss covered forest floors, and an ecosystem that defines Southeast Alaska's temperate rainforest.

With a maximum of just 6 guests, this small group hike offers a more personal pace and experience than larger excursions, making it the perfect way to experience Alaska's rainforest up close.

As the trail follows Connell Lake, you are surrounded by the quiet beauty of nature and sweeping views of the surrounding mountains. Your guide is a lifelong Ketchikan local who grew up exploring these forests, and will share insight into the plants, wildlife, ecosystems and history that make Ketchikan's Tongass National Forest one of the most remarkable forests in the world.

While this trail is easy-to-moderate, it is unpaved. This is not recommended for those who have health issues or injuries that require help or frequent stopping. This trail does have hills and loose gravel.

We will have you back to your ship refreshed and in plenty of time before your departure.
