This small island holds historical significance as the stopover where President Ho Chi Minh welcomed Soviet astronaut Gherman Titov on November 22, 1962. To commemorate this event and strengthen the Vietnam-Soviet friendship, the island was named Ti Top by President Ho Chi Minh.
