Unlike large surf schools, our Private Group Surf Lesson offers a personal and authentic surfing experience in Playa Grande. Your lesson is exclusively for your group, so you can learn and enjoy the ocean together without being combined with other travelers.
Our experienced local surf instructors adapt the lesson to each participant’s age, confidence, and surfing ability, making it ideal for couples, families, friends, and first-time surfers.
We keep our instructor-to-student ratio small — up to 3 adults or 2 children per instructor — providing more individual attention, hands-on guidance, and a strong focus on safety.
More than simply standing up on a surfboard, we want you to understand the ocean, build confidence, learn proper surfing techniques, and experience the surf culture of Playa Grande with people who know and love this beach.

What to expect
Before entering the water, your instructor will give your group a safety briefing and introduce the fundamentals of surfing, including board positioning, paddling, how to catch a wave, and how to stand up safely.
Then it’s time to hit the water! Beginners will start in the whitewater, where they can practice catching waves and build confidence in a safe and supportive environment. Your instructor will stay with your group throughout the session, providing personalized guidance, helping with wave selection, and offering tips to improve with every attempt.
The lesson is adapted to the experience and ability of your group, making it ideal for couples, families, friends, and small groups who want to learn and enjoy surfing together.
This is a private experience exclusively for your group — you will not be combined with other travelers.
Duration: 90 minutes
Minimum: 2 participants
Includes: Local surf instructor, surfboard, rash guard, safety briefing, and personalized instruction.
